Joshua E. Roller, MD
Bariatric & Aesthetic Specialist - Fayetteville
As one of the nation’s leading Bariatric Surgeons, Dr. Roller has performed over 6,000 weight loss surgeries and has helped thousands of patients lose hundreds of thousands of pounds. One of the biggest concerns Bariatric surgery patients have is “loose skin”. Although loose skin is not life-threatening like Obesity, it can impact how our patients see themselves and their self-image. During his time as an advanced minimally invasive surgeon, many of his patients have undergone skin removal surgeries by plastic and cosmetic surgeons. Patients describe these procedures as very painful leaving large, unsightly scars and are much more difficult to recover from, especially compared to their Weight loss surgery. In addition, the costs for these “surgeries” were so high that many patients couldn’t afford to do them especially when the recovery from these “skin removal” procedures ranges from weeks to months.
Dr. Roller began to do research on minimally invasive techniques for loose, saggy and wrinkly skin after weight loss, having babies, or aging but desired to find technology that would provide his patients with minimally invasive options, not maximally invasive surgeries. After extensive research, Dr. Roller discovered Inmode, the makers of Bodytite/facetite. This market-leading body-contouring technology can be used on many areas of the body and can help improve skin laxity after weight loss or due to aging and is also great for removing those last stubborn areas of fat that just can’t be lost no matter how much weit one loses. Dr. Roller has since partnered with Inmode and completed his training in Bodytite/Facetite in Philadelphia. He furthered his training by working closely some of the Nation’s leading experts in Plastic Surgery and the Bodytite/Facetite procedures. Since starting these procedures for the patients in NWA, he has had some tremendous success in treating loose, saggy skin and stubborn areas of fat after weight loss and aging. Dr. Roller was the 1st in NWA to offer this amazing technology.
In addition to the minimally invasive skin tightening procedures that Dr. Roller offers, both he and Dr. Kristin Roller also have acquired and learned many non-invasive techniques for treating loose, saggy and wrinkly skin as well as treating the effects of aging on skin. As opposed to some Plastic/Cosmetic surgeons who generally want to operates, the team at Radiance is focused on helping patients achieve their goals thru the least invasive techniques possible. The Drs. Roller have seen more loose skin than anyone in NWA over the past 11 years after helping patients lose so much weight. Now they are not only able to offer their patients the latest in minimally-invasive and non-invasive skin tightening and rejuvenation techniques, but everyone in NWA.
Dr. Josh Roller is board-certified in general surgery and is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery as well as the American College of Surgeons. In addition, Dr. Roller is a member of the American Society of Liposuction Surgery and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. He completed his internship and general surgery residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, one of the busiest and most respected surgical training programs in the country. As a chief resident, he was given the national honor of Outstanding Laparoendoscopic Resident of the Year. He then completed a one-year fellowship in bariatric surgery at Duke University Medical Center. Historically, some of the most common questions asked of her before weight loss surgery have been “What about loose skin after surgery” and “how do I keep from looking older?” Dr. Roller has always had particular interest in skin health and treating the whole patient. As part of her mission to help her patients complete their whole journey after beating obesity, she decided to become involved in skin health for her patients. As a physician with particular knowledge in skin health, Dr. Roller expanded her knowledge by completing advanced training in injectables (Botox) and Fillers with Allergan, one of the nation’s leaders in these products. She also has completed advanced training in skin health with the experts at ZO skin Health, one of the nation’s leaders in skin care products. With this advanced training and knowledge, Dr. Roller is effectively able to help patients fight the effects of weight loss and aging, helping them achieve all of their health care goals. The effects of aging and weight are not unique and impact everyone.
As a female, Dr. Roller has a particular interest in skin care and body contouring. After having 3 children of her own, she is uniquely aware of the changes that occur after having children and aging. Unwanted weight gain, especially in those hard to lose places, loose skin and wrinkles can have a tremendous impact on one’s self-image and confidence.
